Is Bella Hadid Preparing for the Apocalypse?

Bella Hadid looks like she’s ready to embark on a really chic hike—or like she raided the Net-a-Porter warehouses in preparation for an oncoming apocalypse. Well, it looks like Hadid is bracing for something, thanks to her utilitarian vest-harness. Last night in London, the model attended the Dior Issue launch party wearing an all-black look that included a knit sweater from the Pre-Fall 2019 men’s collection with high-waisted trousers, her signature square-toe boots, a tiny shoulder bag, and Matrix-style square sunglasses. Hadid wore the vest, which came with a mesh overlay and a hefty buckle on top of the sweater, as if she was framing the Dior logo.

Hadid has ventured into the military-inspired style trend before. Just this January at a Chrome Hearts event in New York, the model wore a neon yellow multi-pocketed vest from Virgil Abloh’s first Louis Vuitton men’s collection with a skirt. As for this current monochrome look? It’s a stealthier, sleeker version of the tactical harness-vest craze that surely gives Lara Croft a run for her money.
